2/15/10 - The Pierce Township Police Department has been awarded $20,000 dollar technology grant from the Office of Criminal Justice Service (OCJS). This money is to be used to update the mobile data computers (MDC) that are in the police crusiers. The MDC give the officers the ability to have up-to-date information on motor vehilces; stolen items; wanted / missing persons; and two-communication with dispatch and other officers in the county.
2/01/10 - Pierce Township Police Department joins up with A Child Is Missing, which is a non-profit organization that is devoted to assisting law enforcement in the search and early safe recovery efforts of children / the elderly (often with Alzheimer's) / disabled persons and college students via a rapid-response neighborhood alert program utilizing high-tech telephony systems.
All residents and business owners are asked to sign-up for phone and email alerts, to assist in the locating of missing persons. For a child goes missing every 40 seconds in the United States. You can sign up for these alerts here.
