What is Community Oriented Policing Service ?

C.O.P.S. program was created in an effort to bring the philosophies of community oriented policing, which is a collaboration between the police and the community that identifies and solves community problems, to the community of Pierce Township. 

A pivotal aspect of the community oriented policing paradigm is the use of community members as active participants in the process of determining and solving community problems.  In this ideology community members voice their concerns, contribute advice, and with help from all available resources, take action to address these concerns.
